United Construction Corp. has been offering construction services in the Lake Sunapee / Dartmouth Region since 1960. The company was started in 1960 by L.A. Whipple, an entrepreneur who sold real estate and automobiles in addition to construction. His son, Cary G. Whipple, assumed command in the mid ’60s and continued to expand the company into areas such as paving, building and site work, for which United Construction is still best-known today.

The day to day operations are still being overseen by Cary G. Whipple with the assistance of his daughter Christine Whipple Skarin and son Cary L. Whipple.

Key Personnel

Corporate Controller – Christine Whipple Skarin

Christine Whipple Skarin is the Corporate Secretary, Controller and Office Manager for United Construction. Ms. Skarin obtained her BS in Business Administration from Northeastern and has over 20 years of experience in construction finance. She is responsible for all accounting and financial aspects of the company’s multiple divisions as well as handling all employee benefit related activities.

In addition, she also oversees the day to day operations and dispatching of the company’s trucking fleet. As the main contact for our dump trucks and lowbed tractors, Christine ensures that all aggregate deliveries and equipment moves both internally and for outside customers are handled professionally and efficiently.

Site Work Division – Cary L. Whipple

Cary L. Whipple is the Vice President of Operations at United and oversees the Site Work Division. Mr. Whipple has a B.S. in Civil Engineering and over 25 years of experience in Civil Site Work and Infrastructure. Over the years he’s managed everything from small residential projects to multimillion dollar commercial projects.

Mr. Whipple has extensive experience in all aspects of site construction including: water and sewer pipe projects, road construction, building excavation and backfill, septic systems (residential and commercial), parking lots and driveways, drainage systems, building demolition, paving, golf courses and athletic fields, and much more.

Mr. Whipple also manages all of the companies Real Estate properties including our three sub-divisions and industrial park.

Design-Build Division – Todd Fratzel, P.E.

Todd Fratzel is the Principal Engineer at United and oversees the Design-Build Division. Mr. Fratzel has a B.S. in Civil Engineering and an M.S. in Structural Engineering and more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry. He’s also a licensed Civil Engineer in New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts.

Mr. Fratzel’s experience includes project management, design, and permitting of large scale design-build projects in addition to managing both residential and commercial building projects. He has extensive experience managing residential home construction from small entry level homes to large multimillion dollar custom homes. He also has significant experience managing commercial building projects including: industrial, commercial, retail, education, and health care facilities.
